Integrated Media courses in Studio Arts
Courses in Integrated Media emphasize an experimental approach to new media. Integrated Media courses in the School of Art, aim to bridge electronic technologies and more traditional 2D, 3D and 4D mediums for art production.
We investigate the relationship between emerging and existing media, forms of visual culture, visual representation, the circulation and effect of images and their significance. Courses incorporate theory and practice to study the historical and socio-cultural foundations of new media.
Students are encouraged to investigate new directions in art through projects that deal with notions of space and time, connectivity, interactivity, art as communication and art as information. They explore digital media as a tool used for editing purposes, and as a medium to produce works that are stored and presented exclusively in digital format.
