Wood Design Program in Studio Arts
The wood design program encourages the exploration of wood as a means of personal aesthetic expression.
The student will develop concepts that offer aesthetic solutions to human function or non-functional needs in projects executed with the appropriate level of craftsmanship.
The history of wood as an aesthetic medium in non-Western and Western cultures will be studied to help the student understand historical precedents for artistic/expressive work in this medium.
Through slide lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and field trips to museums, galleries and artists' studios, current trends and concepts in wood as an aesthetic medium will be explored.
The wood studio is a fully equipped wood processing facility.
