About Illinois State University Singing Redbirds Children's Choir
The ISU Singing Redbirds is a children's choir designed for all children who LOVE to sing. Enrollment is open to boys and girls in 3rd - 6th grade. The choir performs two to three times each semester. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings from 6:00PM - 7:15 PM in Cook Hall on the ISU campus.
Singers use singing games, play parties and folk dance to enhance choral rehearsals on a weekly basis. Singers should expect to learn between 5-8 songs per semester, which will range in difficulty and music concepts. The choir will sing various styles of music and will use many languages.
The choir is directed by its founding director, Melissa Miller. Melissa is also the Artistic and Music Director of the Millikin University Children's Choir Program and Conductor of Concert Youth Chorale. Melissa holds a Master of Music in Music Education and Orff Levels I & II training from Illinois State University and Kodaly Certification through Indiana University. Melissa has previously taught at all grade levels including pre-K and collegiate courses in various settings and is a sought after guest clinician and judge. Dedicating her career to the balance of music learning and performance, Melissa strives to challenge singers of all ages to become independent musicians.
Tuition and Registration

**Please note: All Singing Redbirds members will be required to purchase a Singing Redbirds polo shirt for performances. Polos are $18 plus tax.
