Dean's Faculty Travel Award Program
Dean James Major has set aside funds from the FY14 College budget to assist tenured and tenure-track faculty with professional travel. The travel must be for professional purposes that occur between July 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014. This fund is supplemental to any travel funds that have been reserved for faculty travel in individual schools.

Grant-Writing Initiative Award Program
Funded by Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP)
To encourage the development of competitive grant proposals, specifically those from first-time principal investigators, Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) has made funds available for a Grant-Writing Initiative Award Program. This program supports the development of institutional external grant proposals that will have a broad impact upon the University and/or colleges or departments/schools. Funding through this program is intended only for grants or contracts to be submitted and administered through Research and Sponsored Programs.
Interdepartmental collaborations are encouraged, but dollars are limited to a maximum of $5,000 per application with no more than $3,000 awarded per project investigator.
Generally, funds are for salary and wage support, but funds may be used for supplies, expenses, and travel, depending upon the opportunities and needs associated with the project under development.
Travel Award Program
Funded by Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP)
To enhance competitive grant proposals, RSP will provide travel support funds to faculty or staff wishing to participate in grant-writing workshops, collaborate with experts, serve on review panels, or meet with agency program officers. Because these funds are limited, conference travel expenses will not be eligible for reimbursement. Awards are contingent upon availability each fiscal year, and are subject to approval through the Grants Incentive Committee. The Grants Incentive Committee is comprised of four experienced Illinois State University grant-writing faculty from various disciplines.
These awards are granted on a continuing basis and applications are accepted by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at any time.
