Musicians who choose keyboard pedagogy and performance should anticipate becoming a professional musician. Persons in this position should be willing to work flexible hours with an income equal to that of an entrepreneur.
Keyboard pedagogy & performance majors should expect to spend the majority of their academic career rehearsing and practicing for the numerous performance opportunities here at Illinois State and at local performance venues. Among many other requirements, ensemble participation, accompanying, and solo recitals are an essential part of the plan of study.
Upon graduation most people continue their music study in graduate school or seeking a performer's certificate. Some also pursue a professional military career as a musician.
