RED NOTE New Music Festival (March 14-17, 2011)
This year's Illinois State University New Music Festival -- now called the RED NOTE New Music Festival -- will showcase the diversity of contemporary concert music, from humorous songs to electroacoustic multimedia compositions to Brazilian-influenced chamber works. Featured performers will include the virtuoso flute-percussion duo Due East, and genre-crossing composer-pianist David Feurzeig.
In celebration of the Illinois State University College of Fine Arts' 40th Anniversary, the RED NOTE New Music Festival also held its First Annual Composition Competition. The composer of the winning work, Peiying Yuan, received a $500 prize, and her music will be performed at the Festival on March 14th at 8 pm.
