Biography

Lauren Palmer is the Finance and Communications Manager for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. She received her Bachelor of Science in music from Illinois State University and has been an active Redbird at ISU since 2005. In 2017, Lauren joined the School of Music as the Administrative Aide, Budget Lead, and Social Media/Marketing Coordinator. Previously, Lauren worked at ISU Facilities Management as the Fleet Manager, where she had the honor of assisting Illinois Shakespeare Festival with company transportation throughout the festival!

Lauren has an incredible passion for fine arts and fostering a creative community of individuals. Her cohesion of administration and student mentorship is evident throughout the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts.

“It is a privilege to support the administration within the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts and I am honored to play a role in enhancing the excellence of our programs and be an active participant in the arts community. I consistently tell the students that having an understanding of both creative and administrative work is vital to the health of an organization. It provides a true understanding and appreciation for the work that is being done to run a program, which many of these students will step into for their careers.”

Lauren was raised in Springfield, Illinois where she was an active member of the community theatre. Central Illinois stage credits include Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Ms. Honey in Matilda, as well as HONK!, Les Miserables, Children of Eden, Peter Pan, four productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Ragtime, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Bye Bye Birdie. Costume, makeup, stage design, and crew work include 42nd Street, West Side Story, Peter Pan, Fiddler on the Roof, Big, and much more.

Favorite Shakespeare play: A Midsummer Night Dream—A story of love, fairies, and mischief. What is not to like?
