On January 30, 2020, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker visited the Illinois State University campus to announce the release of the remaining funding for the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts fine arts complex project in the amount of $52.3 M in capital funding, for a total of $61.9 M for the project.

The project will be a combination of new construction and renovation that will enhance instructional spaces in Centennial East and West, Center for the Visual Arts, and Center for the Performing Arts. The Wonsook Kim School of Art, School of Theatre and Dance, School of Music, and the School of Creative Technologies will all see improvements to their teaching, exhibition, and performance spaces. As the project proceeds, improvements to Cook Hall will continue.

With the official release of funds, Illinois State University will resume working with architects on the planning and construction phases for the project in 2020-2021. An exact construction timeline has not been finalized, but it is anticipated that the work will be completed in five phases over four to five years.
