Photography
Overview
The photography program emphasizes the development of technical and conceptual skills, the shaping of a personal esthetic and a solid grounding in contemporary critical theory. The goals of the program include preparation for graduate study and a career as an independent studio artist.
The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a wide variety of photography courses, from introduction to black and white film and darkroom techniques in Photography 1 to exploration of color photography, digital imaging, and experimental techniques in Photography 2 and 3. Special Topics in Photography is an advanced level theme course with rotating topics including Experimental Processes, Landscape, Narrative, Portraiture, Studio Lighting, and Social Documentary.
The program fosters a supportive, experimental atmosphere in which students can pursue many avenues of inquiry and explore the medium as a vital mode of expression in the world of ideas.
