Sculpture

Overview

The Sculpture program fosters a spirit of experimentation and encourages both strong technical skills and critical thinking. Course work promotes understanding of the all-inclusive nature of contemporary sculpture. This includes discussions of current issues in the arts and their influence on personal and cultural development. Students consider issues of space, theoretical inquiry and the manufacture of objects, installations and actions through technical processes along with thoughtful, critical dialogue.

Projects and assignments evolve through in-class work/discussions and culminate in final group critiques and presentations. This important critical thinking, exchange of ideas and conceptual development continue throughout the student’s tenure in the Sculpture area.
