Biography
Connie de Veer is a Professor of Acting,Voice, and Movement in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Film at Illinois State University. She is also an actor, voice actor, singer, director, choreographer, AmSAT certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, 200 hour Pranakriya Yoga teacher, and certified Co-Active (Life) Coach. She was twice nominated for Outstanding University Teacher by the School of Theatre and Dance at Illinois State University. She has served as Actor, Movement coach/choreographer, and/or Voice-text coach for the Illinois Shakespeare Festival and ISU School of Theatre and Dance for several seasons. Connie is a member of Actor’s Equity Association and has played major roles for The New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players, Casa Manana, Theatre Three, and Heartland Theatre Company, among others.
Her dedication to her students, their professional success, and personal well-being led her to co-author Actor for Life: How to Have an Amazing Career Without All the Drama, Smith & Kraus Publishers, 2018. The book includes interviews with ISU alumni Jeff Perry, Gary Cole, Sean Hayes, and more, and was a top finalist in American Book Fest’s “Best Performing Arts Books” award in 2018.
