Biography
Darby Wilde is an Associate Professor in the School of Theatre, Dance and Film at Illinois State University and the coordinator of the Dance Teacher Education program. Wilde earned her M.F.A. in Dance from the University of Michigan and immediately following began her performance career with Eisenhower Dance Ensemble (now Eisenhower Dance Detroit). During her tenure with the company, she was involved in numerous outreach residency programs in elementary/middle schools throughout Michigan, in addition to region and national touring.
She was on faculty at Collin College, located in Plano, Texas where a scholarship was awarded in her name. While in Texas, she performed with Elledanceworks. In addition, she has been on faculty at Oakland University, Mercer County Performing Arts High School, Illinois Wesleyan University and the Great Lakes Dance Festival. Ms. Wilde has premiered works in Nicosia, Cyprus, Michigan, Texas and New Jersey. Wilde served two terms as an ACDA National Board member. Wilde has served as an adjudicator for Illinois High School Dance Festival. Most recently, she taught and made a work at SWU in Bangkok, Thailand.
