Biography

ISU has been home to Gina Dew since the fall of 1979. She earned degrees in 1983 and 1989 in Exercise Science, English Education and Physical Education. During her first degree, Gina attended ISU on a gymnastics scholarship and is honored to hold a few records to this day. She is the first female gymnast to place at the annual 5-state Regional Meet winning 2nd place honors on the Balance Beam, 7th place in the All Around, and All-Regional Team Honors her freshman year. She repeated Regional Meet honors her junior year, winning 3rd place on the Balance Beam.
Gina has been honored to serve ISU as an academic advisor since 1985. Her career began with students in the College of Applied Science and Technology. Later she became an advisor for freshmen in the College of Fine Arts and also taught a freshman seminar course. When the opportunity arose to specialize in advising, she became an advisor for Athletics, returning to her roots at ISU. During her Athletics career, she advised and monitored NCAA compliance for the athletes in the following sports: Wrestling, Soccer, Golf, Track and Field, Cross Country, Gymnastics, Swimming and Diving, Baseball, and Softball.
Toward the end of her advising career, Gina moved to departmental advising, working with students in Family and Consumer Sciences. She then retired in January of 2016.
She was able to return to ISU part-time in the College of Fine Arts and is currently the departmental advisor for Music Education students.
Gina enjoys time with her family, husband Paul and their 4 children. She also enjoys many hobbies and interests - reading, gardening/mowing, sports, fitness, Bible study, and Great Banquet/Walk to Emmaus community activities.
Gina often says that she is greatly blessed to be able to continue to give back to the university that has been so good to her! She loves working with college students as their enthusiasm, potential, and admirable goals continue to inspire her everyday.
