Biography

Maggie Marlin-Hess is an actor, director and award-winning choreographer who has taught at several universities and performing arts institutes nationwide. Most recently she was on the acting faculty at Dreyfoos School of the Arts and Assistant Professor of Acting, Musical Theatre Performance and Voice & Movement at Missouri State University (MSU). Select performance credits include Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Millie in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Velma Kelly in Chicago, Kate Monster in Avenue Q, and several roles with the Resident Artist Ensemble, a professional acting company she co-founded with colleagues from MSU which include Painting Churches, God of Carnage, and Rabbit Hole. Credits in direction and choreography include Mother Courage at Arena Stage starring Kathleen Turner; Butcher of Baraboo World Premiere at Second Stage, NYC; Rent, Rocky Horror Show, Great American Trailer Park at Firehouse Theatre Project; Amelie, Caucasian Chalk Circle, Waiting For Lefty at Dreyfoos School of the Arts; Once Upon A Mattress at Florida Atlantic University; Cabaret, Pajama Game, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, Musical of Musicals, the Musical at MSU. She is a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, SAG/AFTRA (Taft Hartley), Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance and the Association of Theatre Movement Educators. Maggie holds a BFA from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University.
