Teaching Interests & Areas

I embrace the cyclical creative process that holds theory and practice, which can ultimately stimulate a meaningful dialogue with the public. As a visual artist with foundations in film, video, sculpture and music I understand the pedagogical importance for students to experience the generative potential of the creative process. I want to teach because I want to be challenged in how to strengthen, articulate and share the technical and philosophical aspects of the filmmaking craft that I have developed through my practice.

Research Interests & Areas

I build films, installations, digital images, sound, and video projection performances that explore our relationships with place and time, to probe how identity is shaped by tensions raised by our attachments to or de-attachments from our built and natural environments. Upholding a 'cinema of imperfection' that reveals the materiality of the image, my work seeks to move beyond a perceived transparent reality to a place of visual plasticity and sublime emotional experience.
