Biography
Micah Crouse is the Instructional Assistant Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at Illinois State University. A native of Murray, Kentucky, Crouse received his Bachelors in Music Performance from Murray State University, and his Masters in Music Performance from Illinois State University. Following his appointment at Illinois State, Crouse will begin as a tubist with the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America located in Belleville, IL. In addition to his career in the wind band area, Crouse has often appeared as principal tuba with the Heartland Festival Orchestra. As a soloist, he has competed as a finalist in the Midwest Regional Tuba and Euphonium conferences and a semi-finalist in the prestigious Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival. Micah has also been selected as the winner of several university concerto competitions, performing concerti with the Murray State University Wind Ensemble, and the Illinois State University Wind Symphony.
As an educator, Crouse has been an active freelance studio teacher in Murray, Kentucky and Normal, Illinois. He has worked routinely with over thirty individuals on tuba, euphonium, and trombone, whom many of which have seen placements in the KMEA All-State Band, Kentucky Ambassadors of Music, Governor's School for the Arts, ILMEA District Honor Band, and KMEA District Honor Bands. Apart from private studio teaching, Crouse has acted as the Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the Racer Instrumental Music Academy in Murray, Kentucky since its founding in June, 2021.
