Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall - 3 p.m.
Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra will present its first concert of the new year on Sunday, February 27 at 3 p.m. in the Illinois State University Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. With guest conductor Maestro Mauricio Colasanti from Italy, the concert will include the Dvorak NEW WORLD SYMPHONY No. 9 and the DANZON NO. 2 by Colombian composer Arturo Marquez. Maestro Colasanti is music director of the Chieti Opera Company and Gudiagrele Summer Festival Opera Festival. The Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Glenn Block, music director.

Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall - 3 p.m.
Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra, with Music Director Glenn Block conducting, will present a program featuring Illinois State University faculty violist Katherine Lewis performing the "Concerto for Viola" by English composer William Walton. The program will also include music by Illinois State University faculty composer Martha Horst in her "Quiet Places" and a suite from the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. The program will open with an orchestra from the ISU String Project.

Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall - 7 p.m.
The Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra will performs its final concert of the spring 2022 semester, featuring the two winners of the Illinois State University Concerto-Aria Competition held in January 2022. This competition identifies the two top performers among the entire Illinois State University School of Music student body. In addition to the winning concertos, the ISU Symphony Orchestra will perform music by American composers John Adams with "The Chairman Dances" from his opera "Nixon in China" and Samuel Barber with his "Symphony in One Movement." The Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Glenn Block, music director since 1990.
