Student Teaching
Teacher Education at Illinois State University is a clinical-based program. While the state office requires 100 hours of clinical experiences, most degree programs at ISU provide many more opportunities than mandated. These clinical experiences are integrated in courses offered by the dance education program and the College of Education. Our highly regarded laboratory schools, Metcalf Elementary School (grades K – 8) and University High School offer our dance education students continuous access for observation and teaching experiences throughout their undergraduate studies. In addition, our students receive clinical experiences in both the public and private sector throughout the Normal and Bloomington communities, providing multiple diverse opportunities for the students in Dance Teacher Education.
