High School Band students planning to prepare their ILMEA District and All-State Band Auditions are invited to this free event to learn from the faculty and students in the School of Music. Students will receive guidance and instruction to help them prepare their recorded ILMEA Band Auditions. This clinic is scheduled well in advance of when the recorded auditions are due for submission.
Students will receive instruction in the following areas:
- Technical and Musical Suggestions on the Required Etudes
- Expert Advice on Practicing the Senior Level Scale Sheet
- Technical and Practical Tips for Recording Your Audition
Saxophone students interested in working on the ILMEA jazz auditions (in addition to the standard district audition) will be offered an optional session on the jazz audition requirements.
Students and families who attend the event will receive complimentary tickets to the afternoon Wind Symphony Concert.

Students should bring
- All students should bring a pencil and paper for taking notes.
- Wind players should bring their instruments and all necessary accessories in addition to printed copies of the audition etudes and scale sheet for their instruments.
- Percussion players should bring their sticks and mallets in addition to printed copies of all percussion etudes (snare drum, timpani, keyboard percussion, crash cymbals, and tambourine). If students own their own snare drum or tambourine, they are encouraged to bring it as well.
