Traces We Leave Behind

Family albums, videos, social media posts, and hair are some impressions that are left by everyone. Traces We Leave Behind explores direct or indirect, active or passive, and visible or subtle evidence of existing. I explore this subject through my own digital and analog photography, glass, found objects, photos, and video footage. The traces I have chosen to include are remnants of memories and experiences.

Traces We Leave Behind is a result of an ongoing fascination with what remains after an emotional or societal trauma. Previous explorations include a series of found photos of an ex-friend who I cut out and replaced with text about how I currently feel about them, a series about the COVID-19 lockdown and the change of the perception of time, and a body of work about the feeling of desolation after a family member had passed.

My intent is for viewers to consider the traces they may leave behind, the impact they may have on others whether physical or emotional, and who may have been affected by these impressions.
