Please prepare the answers to these questions in advance of beginning the application. If you start but do not complete your application, you will need to copy and save the URL to be able to return to your progress.

  1. Name (first, last)
  2. Email
  3. Phone Number
  4. Mailing Address
  5. DOB
  6. CV - Upload as PDF
  7. Artist Statement - Upload as PDF
  8. There are two options for submitting your Artist Portfolio/Work Samples:
    1. Artist Portfolio - Upload as PDF

Please include up to ten works (multiple images for each work is OK). Please include a still for videos, and a hyperlink to videos. Only public/unlisted videos can be included--no password protection, please! Each work should include the title, date, medium, dimensions, and if you choose, a brief project statement.

    2. Artist website. Submit a link to your website in a PDF. If there are specific works you'd like the committee to review, please list individual URLs in the PDF.

Please do not send links to an Instagram profile. Here is a resource for creating a free webpage: WIX

  9. Course Proposal - Upload as PDF

Detailed proposal of (up to a six-week interdisciplinary seminar) course. We encourage development of a theme that relates to your own work and interests, and to projects, readings, etc, that may help students further develop their own practices.

Discussion of current issues is considered a valuable part of the seminar experience. The seminar can include individual and/or collaborative studio work, lecture and discussion, readings, local field trips, or any process that you think may apply to the context described on our site.

Please list artists, readings, and a schedule for each class meeting.
Proposals should not rely exclusively on the use of other studios (such as printmaking, woodshop, ceramics) but coordination with these areas may be possible. The strongest proposals will not rely on the use of other studio facilities, though we may be able to coordinate some intermittent use.

Please note: to relieve Visiting Artists of as much additional work as possible, we do not require that you grade student's work, take attendance, or do other administrative tasks normally completed in the classroom. A useful resource for building curriculum, from Times Higher Education is listed here.

  10. Does your course proposal require various studios in the School of Art? Please refer to our webpage. Please note: we cannot guarantee access to studios; this takes additional coordination with department heads and studio coordinators.
  11. Would you be interested in being considered for producing a print with Normal Editions Workshop?
  12. Our residency is contingent on scheduling. Please select the preferred semester for a residency (Fall or Spring)
  13. Our residency is contingent on scheduling. Please select the preferred duration of your residency (Six weeks, three weeks, two weeks)
