Trombonists at Illinois State University cultivate the highest artistic standards, develop technical mastery to allow for optimal artistic freedom, broaden their knowledge of literature and styles, and develop professional skills, work ethic, and habits.
Weekly private lessons.
Weekly studio master classes.
Trombonists perform in brass quintets, trombone quartets, and other types of brass chamber ensembles. Regularly scheduled student chamber music recitals each semester. Weekly coaching with brass faculty. Open to all trombone students who audition for ensemble placement.
Open to all Illinois State University trombone majors, plus other invited players. Performs at least one concert per semester.
Every year, the trombone studio hosts at least one special guest artist. Previous artists include:
